Super Easy Roll Tuck Pin Protective Style

Continuing with my protective styling....YAWN!!! Protective styling sucks!

For those that have not been following, I am going to attempt to do protective styles at least 5 days out of the week. Protective styles are defined as styles in which none of the ends of your hair are showing. Protectives styles protect the ends of your hair which are the oldest and most fragile portions. When people say that their hair won't grow it is a matter of their hair breaking off, not of their hair not growing. In order to see hair growth you must retain the hair that is already on your head. Protective styling is a great way to help this process. Or at least that is what all the long haired ladies on YouTube say. For me, I love big afros so this has kinda been a challenge mentally for me. I am always trying to find new hairstyles that work on my short hair.

Today I have a roll, tuck, and pin hairstyle. Theses styles are good if you have streched out hair that needs to be washed and detangled but you have not had the time to do so just yet. They are really, really simple and work on my short 6.5 inch hair.



The hairsyle is cute, it is kinda retro which are styles that I like. Like I said it was super easy to do. The tutorial is below.

What is your hair journey?

Well, my hair never really responded well to relaxers, I first relaxed my hair my 11th grade year and it has been downhill from there. I went natural again three years ago, I couldn't keep up with the relaxers anyway, and I never knew what to do with my relaxed hair so I just gave up and cut it all off. I did not transition, I just cut it all off.

I was only relaxed for three years out of my life, I never liked them, and my dislike for them grew when I took chemistry in college and found out what all the chemicals found in them really do to your homeostasis.

April 30, 2010 Vintage Look

This is my vintage look. I two strand twisted my hair overnight, then in the morning un-did the twists. I combed out a section in the front and pinned it backward into a poof. The I took a bandana and tied it around the remainder of the back of my hair!

This pic was taken at my job. I work at a high school. It is a two strand twist out. With my hair damp i put some of Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter on it and put it in two stand twits all over my head. Then I go to sleep. In the morn, i simply take them out and finger comb the roots. I usually pin the right side of my hair back. This is b/c back in the day when I was addicted to the creamy crack, i burnt out some of the hair on the right side...it never grew back.

Here is a faux loc look. Thanks for the idea natural hair hermana Kana!
So here is how i did it...
First I shampooed and conditioned my hair. but instead of washing out the conditioner right away, leave it in. While the conditioner is still on your hari, twist it into locs. Then put a stocking on your head and rinse the conditioner out. YOu have to put a stocking over your hair so the locs will not wash out with the conditioner. Then, let it air dry and you will have baby locs for a week or two! I was asked so many times if I was Somalian with my hair like this...

My hair is still growing...still using the coconut oil. picking it out, tho only pick your hair out when it is wet! Dry picking will lead to major shedding and broken hairs.

My hair looks kinda like a fro in this pic! Yea! At this point im using cocnut oil on my hair. Coconut oil is technically used for cooking, but i use it for my hair, my body, and for cooking, lol. It is great.

Now I am using Carols Daughter Healty Hair Butter. I put it on my hair after I shampoo and condition it. I use Burts Bee's shampoo and Conditioner. Pretty simple. Cant wait for it to grow some!
I believe I was headed to shake the salsa club in the pic....Its the only place I ever go... I need to get a life!

Hair still growing..still using gel.. *yawn* Hurry up and grow DAMN IT!!!
You know what, this is the wrong attitude to have with my hair. I have to treat it w/ luv and kindness, and have paitence. Sigh...
