Dec 5, 2010-Going To Teach Salsa Class

SO I teach a dance class at Ibiza Night Club on Sundays at 8 if you ever wanna come....

Here is my look for the night. My friend Lola is a pro makeup artist so she has influenced me to get into makeup. She was gone to D.C to visit her boo on this night so I had to do my own makeup. I think I did pretty well!

I used an Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box.

I actually ended up with my glasses on that evening....

Lately I have been adding a hump to the front of my hair and just pulling the back into a mass of curls. It is a pretty easy style which is little to no combing which means no damage!!! Here is a side view:

Nov 24 2010...I Had Long Hair And I Did Not Care

Soooo....I have been MIA for a while. Well, I got some weave!!!

I salsa dance so I just really wanted some hair to swing around on the dance floor. Also, it looked good with my Halloween costume.

But, the weave is out! While I do miss swinging my hair around the dance floor, I miss my natural curls even more!!! By the way, the weave was AWESOME!!! My hair grew at least an inch and is much thicker now.

So here are some new pics.

This is when I first took out the weave. I was soo happy! I did not use any product on it at this point. I just undid the twists. My hair was very dry.

Next this is a pic of me and my friend Tara at the mall. I braided the hair to stretch it out then picked out the braids. We were doing some black Friday browsing. Then I usually stand in the shower for a few moments to hair it soak up some moisture to get it into a rounded shape.

Next this is me at work! As you can see I really love the gold headband...got it from Target for $7.99!

Lastly, this is me at work today. Last night I co-washed my hair w/ Plamer's Olive Oil Conditioner. Then I used Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and two strand twisted my hair while wet. It made my hair super soft this morning. I then finger combed my hair in the morning. And I put on the gold headband of course!

Here is a pic of the stuff I used....I really do love it! It has only like 4 chem ingredients....the first 5 ingredients are all natural things like shea butter, coconut oil, mango butter, and some more great stuff.

August 1, 2010 Kinky Curly Hair Gel

This is me and my friend Shute Jr...In this pic we were at a salsa club.

I used Kinky-Curly hair gel on my hair...it made the curls really smooth. I wet my hair till it was dripping then smoothed the product over the curls with my hands. I did not comb it out as the directions said on the jar. If I would have then it wud have just looked let an afro. I wanted a more defined look.

April 30, 2010 Vintage Look

This is my vintage look. I two strand twisted my hair overnight, then in the morning un-did the twists. I combed out a section in the front and pinned it backward into a poof. The I took a bandana and tied it around the remainder of the back of my hair!

This pic was taken at my job. I work at a high school. It is a two strand twist out. With my hair damp i put some of Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter on it and put it in two stand twits all over my head. Then I go to sleep. In the morn, i simply take them out and finger comb the roots. I usually pin the right side of my hair back. This is b/c back in the day when I was addicted to the creamy crack, i burnt out some of the hair on the right side...it never grew back.

Here is a faux loc look. Thanks for the idea natural hair hermana Kana!
So here is how i did it...
First I shampooed and conditioned my hair. but instead of washing out the conditioner right away, leave it in. While the conditioner is still on your hari, twist it into locs. Then put a stocking on your head and rinse the conditioner out. YOu have to put a stocking over your hair so the locs will not wash out with the conditioner. Then, let it air dry and you will have baby locs for a week or two! I was asked so many times if I was Somalian with my hair like this...

My hair is still growing...still using the coconut oil. picking it out, tho only pick your hair out when it is wet! Dry picking will lead to major shedding and broken hairs.

My hair looks kinda like a fro in this pic! Yea! At this point im using cocnut oil on my hair. Coconut oil is technically used for cooking, but i use it for my hair, my body, and for cooking, lol. It is great.

Now I am using Carols Daughter Healty Hair Butter. I put it on my hair after I shampoo and condition it. I use Burts Bee's shampoo and Conditioner. Pretty simple. Cant wait for it to grow some!
I believe I was headed to shake the salsa club in the pic....Its the only place I ever go... I need to get a life!

You know what, this is the wrong attitude to have with my hair. I have to treat it w/ luv and kindness, and have paitence. Sigh...

I was tired of the flat irons, the no sweating, the no long, hot steamy showers, I was tired of straight hair. So...it had to go. At this point I was using gel and combing it back to make it kinda curly.

Beginning of my hair journey

This was in Philadelphia in 2008.

I was doing an internsip for the labor union UNITE Here!

Me and my labor union over lord Allen hernandez made a bet over a game of Tekken. I lost, and as part of the deal I had to straighten my hair.

 I went to some hair salon in Philly...I dont know what kind of flat iron she used...but my hair could not go back to an afro! It had a permantly burnt smell and some of the strands would not go back kinky.

So, I had to cut it all off and start over....
